Recensioni ristorante Bologna Matusel

On December 13, I and my wife had dinner in Matusel. I ate ravioli with seafood, swordfish with aubergine and scallop. All I ate was delicious. And sliced beef that my wife ate was very tasty too. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. And the wine that she recommended was excellent. Thank you Matusel.....Fatih Mehmet Yılmaz, from Turkey

Matusel is a small neighborhood restaurant geared more for the locals than tourists. That said their English was quite good and the food was outstanding! We had stuffed zucchini flowers with shrimp for a starter followed by some of the best pasta bolognese I have ever had. We had the steak with a side salad that was so simple and delicious. They even put pink salt in a grinder on the table to add more flavor if needed. The panna cotta was orgasmic. With each bit it will send you a special place before returning for another bite. This was one of my best meals in all of Europe and a great value!

We had a lunch at the Matusel, I had read about their grilled Octopus and I was not disappointed. They make it for two and the price is 19 x 2 euros. Filtered water is free. The service was friendly. Only thing: We waited for a long time to get the check. But you don't pay at the table. You pay at the cash, which is very good but you have to know it.

We were lucky on finding this friendly restaurant hidden in a small street in Bologna, out of the real downtown. The ragu was perfect and confirmed the city fame of the best ragu in the world. Also the eggplant baked with fish was very good. Good and friendly service complemented this nice experience at the Matusel.
If you fancy an excellent fish meal whilst in Bologna then this is the restaurant for you. We dined at this restaurant after seeing 2 very positive reviews from friends on tripadvisor. The octopus is truly amazing, the Chef must have a very good way of cooking octopus up his sleeve.

Service was very good too and the free (have as much as you like) limoncello or licorice liquor at the end of the meal is a big plus.

Dined here a couple of nights ago and am still reminiscing about the fantastic octopus I tasted here. The restaurant is located in a quiet street about 5 to 10 minutes away from the centre. I would suggest booking because all tables were taken on Saturday night. The menu is vast with an ample selection of specials and we opted to go for these. For starters we had the paccheri with a tomato and langoustine sauce. The paccheri were cooked to perfection and the langoustines were extremely fresh and tasty. However the clincher on the evening was the octopus. We shared a whole octopus between two. This was first boiled then placed on an open grill. The taste of the sea was still there and there was no need for any lemons or other sauces - the octopus on its own was the star of the dish. As a side we were given potatoes and roasted veg with capers, sun dried tomatoes and olives. We polished off these too. For desert I opted for the ricotta and cinnamon tart which was good nut not as good as the Ricotta and Pear tart I get at Fra Giuseppe here in Malta. Another great thing about this restaurant is its organic wine list. We had an excellent Pinot Grigio which was a perfect accompaniment to our food.

Highly recommended! The place is nice and warm. Delicious food, friendly atmosphere, excellent service.
